Teide by Night: Sunset & Stargazing with Telescopes Experience

1.Teide by Night: Sunset & Stargazing with Telescopes Experience

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 1,492 reviews · 9 hours (approx.) · from $107Our pick

Ride into Teide National Park for volcanic scenery, a sunset above the clouds, dinner at Restaurante Papillon, and guided stargazing with lasers and telescopes. Guides such as Isabel, Pepe, Elena, Victor, and Jesper add history and humor. The nine-hour trip costs $107.63, with selected pickup areas and bottled water included.

“The experience was very fun! Overall we’d highly recommend it to others. There are a few items worth noting: 1. The tour is very long (8+ hours) and you spend a lot of time on the bus which can be difficult for those with motion sickness 2. The food at the restaurant was sub-par, this was not only our opinion but the opinion from the vast majority of guests. 3. You are climbing up and down over 2000 meters, the drive down was not enjoyable due to the rapid pressure change. Going up was easier given the multiple stops along the way.”

2.National Park Astronomy Tour with Telescope and Photo

★★★★★★★★★★4.4 · 357 reviews · 2h 30m · from $91

Travel by Atrip bus from your Uluru accommodation to a dark-sky site in the national park. Guides such as Lucy, Neil, and Zack explain southern constellations, Indigenous sky stories, planets, and nebulae. You will use telescopes, get help with phone photography, and receive a digital portrait with Uluru beneath the stars.

“Definitely worth paying more and getting further from the resort as the light pollution is much less and really enhances the experience. Guides were so knowledgeable and helpful. The offering blankets was a very nice touch and much appreciated as I certainly didn't realise how cold it would be! I would have maybe liked a little more scientific information as well as the indigenous stories. Photos are a great keepsake but it can take a while to get through everyone due to the long exposure and various groups were taking a while to plan who would be in which as you get one photo per individual.”
